Cthulhu

Cthulhu

Cthulhu the Chaosmaker is a Mischiever and former Eraser and the most famous Outer God in Lovecraftian fiction (Or at least the name, which is a very common name for Erasers). In his stories, Cthulhu is the ex-ruler of the Outer God mystery kingdom of R'lyeh in the point of inaccessibility of the Pacific Ocean until his two defeats in the hands of Gammell Angell and his great nephew Francis Wayland Thurston. In the series, Cthulhu was defeated by those two after a first defeat from H.P. Lovecraft, who was a crusader that explored the most occult and unknowable of the UUniverses and studying the Outer Gods before vanishing to the Demon Realm, the setting of The Owl House. After these three defeats, Cthulhu was disgraced, was no longer an Eraser, and lost R'lyeh forever to his half-sister Cthaeghya, being wiped back into his R'lyeh prison. He later escaped, destroyed R'lyeh, murdered Cthaeghya, and left to be with his great great grandfather Azathoth, ruler of the Mischievers, as his new unlimited access to chaos magic named him vice-ruler of the Mischievers. He would go on to be the martial leader of the Lovecrafts, Azathoth's greatest monster creations, and help him regain control of the Demon Realm since it fought for it's independence as he could never create a replacement.

History[]

Cthulhu was once an Eraser assigned by the Outer Gods to the Earth of Luz back in ancient times. Back then, humanity was more accepting of magic and applied it ubiquitously in their lives. They were also more technologically advanced and were ready to explore the stars starting with Mars. Outer God Intendeds wanted to test limits on humanity and created Cthulhu for this very purpose. He would give them the gift of powerful cosmic magic via the Fantasy Realm. This allowed them to discover truly phenomenal magic including that which was lost to time. But Cthulhu did so anonymously as he was not supposed to reveal himself until his job was truly done. However, what he failed to realize was that he was set to be sacrificed to prove the world's potential. Though his job was far more successful, the end trial of humanity required them to destroy Cthulhu. He begged the Intendeds for his life, but his fate was sealed. Figures like the original Randolph Carter and Castro were some of the leading figures and historians of this ancient world who terminated Cthulhu.

Feeling betrayed by his creators, Cthulhu was resurrected by Azathoth, who fused him with his actual great grandson. This turned him into the monster he is today as one of the earliest Mischievers. As time went on, natural magic vanished from Earth and humanity forgot all about magic, yet magic still remained connected. Cthulhu would become the most dedicated of all Mischievers, fueled by the lie of his original existence. His dedication earned him notoriety from both humanity and Fantasy Realmers alike. This would result in the Mischievers, then self-christened as the Great Old Ones, taking over Earth entirely. They held power over chaos itself allowing them to upend fate into their favor and even reverse possibility and impossibility, break reality, and pose a dire danger to the multiverse. Humanity would be wiped out and the Great Old Ones would dominate the Earth. Yet their complacence with the power of chaos resulted in its unpredictable power overwhelming them and reducing their 'kingdom' into the Mad Rims forever, while the planet would be temporally replicated and regressed back thousands of years before humanity evolved. Cthulhu and all Mischievers would forsake this 'Great Old One' era and focus on the Fantasy Realm afterward.
