Lilith

Lilith Clawthorne

Lilith Clawthorne is Eda's sister and the leader of the Emperor's Coven in the Disney show The Owl House. Appearing like an opposite to Eda, Lilith has unlimited magic power and serves for the law, while Eda does so outside the law. Lilith does show concern for her sister, however, and shows a secret need to have Eda join the Emperor's Coven, under the authority of Emperor Belos of the Boiling Isles, as she is tasked with his advisor Kikimora to capture her. She has thus become an antagonist for Eda and Luz throughout the season and becomes the secondary antagonist at the Season 1 two-part finale, where it's revealed that she was the one who cursed Eda as a child as a means to win her way into the Emperor's Coven, and had intended for the curse to only last a day. She is voiced by Cissy Jones (Delilah in Firewatch, The Sorceress in Spyro Reignited Trilogy and Dottie).

Role in the series[]

In the SAFA series, Lilith is revealed to be both the Lilith of Jewish mythology, and the Lilith of Lovecraftian lore, AKA Ilyth'la the Queen of the Night, but she more resembles the Lilith of Lovecraftian lore, minus the blue eyes and crimson lips which she has changed after so long. Like Eda, is a succubus who has had many husbands including Adam of Eden, Nodens, Samael, King Asmodeus, and Horrorwing. She has even pulled her weight against the Mischievers that Luz fought including Yog-Sothoth and Magnum Tenebrosum. (Albeit not without initially helping Yog and being brainwashed by MT). Outside of the canon reasons, Lilith's other reasons for cursing Eda was because of being manipulated by Emperor Belos' father Emperor Hellion when she was a child, and he threatened to give her a worse version of this curse with magic stolen from Gotham if she told her, and that they had to harness the power of Mlandoth and his opposite Mril Thorion while also disguising it as a remedy to Eda's curse. The two have since become polar opposites as while Eda was doing good on the bad side of the law, whereas she was rightfully free to use her magic for good or bad thanks to harnessing Mlandoth's power, Lilith would be doing bad on the good side of the law, whereas she would be serving a tyrannical dictator who sought power at the expense of everyone under his authority thanks to harnessing Mril Thorion's power. But since Hellion died, Belos had to finish his plans and hope that Eda and Lilith would die so that he could harness Mlandoth and Mril Thorion's power contained within the gems on their robes, but her accidentally confessing that she cursed Eda caused her to break her deal with Belos' family and thus suffer the same curse as Eda on the same level, but as a crow monster also quelled by Belos through elixirs, making her a slave of sorts.
