Mythos

Mythos

Mythos is a planetary sanctuary for millions upon millions of mythological creatures throughout the UUniverses. The mythological animals are sometimes shipped from many other worlds to this place where they can adapt more to the sparse environment that surrounds them. The planet has been used as a sanctuary since the Second Cartoonian War, and every mythological creature that was moved there has successfully adapted without any problem.

History[]

Mythos World Map

Mythos Globe Map

Mythos started off as a habitable planet with wildlife animals and sparse, humid flora, and tons of oxygen like in the Carboniferous Period of prehistoric times. Then, when the First Cartoonian Wars were still ravaging, the battles that took place on Mythos affected the planet's metal and crystal core's chemical makeup, and filled it with tons of magical power. As a result, magic has filled the planet's atmosphere greatly, accelerating evolution, and creating mythological creatures. Millions of years later, the planet became a much more adaptable place. Certain rainbow crystals from the planet's core usually sprout and have a ripple effect throughout it's 2-mile radius. These crystals are called Illunos Crystals.

Thousands of years later, when the Second Cartoonian War began, wildlife on Mythos began getting endangered, and were threatened with extinction. Then when it finally ended, the High Council decreed the place a mythological creature sanctuary, and began shipping multiple mythological species there and when they arrived, they successfully adapted to living there 5 days later. It continues to be a sanctuary today. It is also the home of many sentient mythic creatures, including, but not limited to, Centaurs, Elves, Dwarves, Gnomes, Golems, Ogres, Fairies, even the likes of Orcs, Trolls, Goblins, and many others. Even though the likes of Orcs and other often-hostile races and creatures have a bad reputation, only a few are legitimately bad. A good majority are mostly preferring a life of lone solace or be among their kind to avoid being judged, though no interracial conflicts exist between neither of them thanks to carefully-placed laws and that their respected kings, governors, presidents, emperors, or any of the like are very reasonable, capable of compromises and developed philosophies of tolerance. There are occasional disagreements, like competitions and challenges, but nothing serious that would inspire war or xenophobia. However, concerning that Orcs, Trolls, Goblins, and those of the negative side of mythical creatures, still have a tendency to have more perpetrators than those of good mythical beasts (though perpetrators of their own fairly exist as well), those such individuals do desire to persue their ambitions of greed and power, but all the while avoid their people's extreme laws since being evil is viewed as a very disgraceful act. They have their illegal works in secret, and among these 'underground' businesses is the now-infamous 'Mythos Black Market', an illegal trade of unsentient mythical animals which is so secretive, no one even knows who founded it or who's in charge, let alone that it even exists. It is said it even avoided being in the knowledge of the High Council and any outside goverment that would seek to have it shut down because of it's extreme dealings.

Environment and Community[]

Fauna[]

Mythos is the home of not just real life sentient/unsentient animals, but also mythological creatures that are also either sentient or unsentient. Mythological creatures are the dominant wildlife species on the planet. Some say that the wildlife is so dangerous, one wouldn't last more than 3 days lost in the wilderness. There were lots of ways to get killed in Mythos environments. Others say it's nice to explore the place and watch the creatures thrive in their world. Because of both these theories, only 60.38% of Mythos remains undiscovered. Even the oceans and bodies of water are as dangerous. Mythological creatures tend to come in 2 different varieties. Some are Goun'biars, or animal-based creatures from Mythosian slang, which categorizes mythological creatures as being non-human based. Mythological creatures in the Goun'biar category are griffins, unicorns, dragons, manticores, chimeras, phoenixes, hydras, jackalopes, enfields, hippocampi, perytons, pegasi, basilisks, cockatrices, and so on. Others are Homu'biars, or human-based creatures that make up the sentient wildlife and resemble humans more closely than Goun'biars. Mythological creatures in the Homu'biar category are centaurs, mermaids, satyrs, sirens, nymphs, gorgons, minotaurs, cyclopses, ogres, goblins, hobgoblins, gremlins, trolls, harpies, ichthyocentaurs, fairies, and so on. The Homu'biars live in tribal communities and hunt for meat and fruit like the other animals out there. Alchorse, Civilised versons of these humanoid creatures do exist and have established goverments, and Of course, there are humans that inhabit the planet called Mythosians, but they will be explained soon.

Flora[]

The flora of Mythos is incredibly sparse. Normally, they appear like any other plant, small or large, green and colorful, but sometimes, the planet's magical core causes them to either grow in size, mutate, or have other adverse effects. The fruits on Mythos are much sweeter than normal fruits, carnivorous plants can have a larger diet depending upon the size, and because of the large amounts of humidity in the planet's atmosphere, plants can become more adaptable and sprout almost everywhere. A plant's growing span on Mythos lasts only a day with the magic and humidity, and the adverse effects of the magic core allows the plants to form jungles, forests, amazons, and can even grow underground as long as there is sunlight. The humidity and incredible amount of magic also allows the planet's high concentration of air to remain. This amount of air can have some effect on the fauna as well. Insects, according to their biology, can grow a bit larger in size.

Civilization[]

Since Mythos is mostly unexplored, civilization tends to be rare. There are a few cities and villages, but most tend to be tribal communities. 57% of the planet's community is tribal, 30% is medieval, and 13% is civilized. Homu'biar creatures make up these communities, as well as a few sentient Goun'biar creatures who are either visitors or pets. Citizens of these communities do hunt for Goun'biars, but not sentient Goun'biars. The sentient Goun'biars don't mind too much about their own kind being killed for food, but some do. Homu'biars like centaurs, mermaids, goblins, trolls, ogres, or cyclopses make up these communities, and the Mythosian humans only exist in tribes or villages. The cities are xenoficial (Made by other-worldly beings), and are the only places that contain spaceports. Magic also plays a role in the communities. Spells on Mythos can be used by any species, regardless of being either Goun'biars or Homu'biars. Also, Mythos is one of the many worlds that has a distinctive language. Mythosian language is very easy to learn either by schools, or having knowledge of magic for observing and translating. Certain English words have been formed by this language as well. Mythosian inhabitants say odd words like oushe (meaning 'poop' or 'waste'), toog (meaning 'butt'), or grouff (A Mythosian phrase that one says when surprised or intrigued, also like 'amazing').

Magic and Illunos Crystals[]

Mythos' atmosphere is filled with magic. The magic goes all the way to the planet's inner metal and crystal core. Every few 10 years, rainbow crystals called Illunos Crystals sprout from the ground, and spread magic 2 miles within the radius of each crystal. The magic allowed accelerated evolution for animals and plants all over the globe. There can sometimes be crystal forests made out of the crystals. The Illunos Crystals are the source of the animals' magic power, just like power gems in Spyro's world. They can't be eaten like the power gems, but their power can easily be absorbed. The sales of these crystals are illegal, and they are not even allowed to leave the planet. Mythosians use these crystals for decorations, jewelry, and even to make wands or were used as weapons. They were first discovered in 400 BC by a Mythosian tribe chief named Yuuso Illunos, and were wielded for magic and weaponry, and were not allowed to leave the planet, or else their magic can fade away, and the resulting radiation could burn anything within a 5-mile radius.

Mythosians[]

The Mythosian humans are much, much different from other humans. Since they have been exposed to so much magic crystals and sunlight for over a thousand years since their evolution, their skin is either purple or sand blue, making them look more like aliens. They only live in tribal and medieval communities only. They can speak English, but their vocabulary is altered by their Mythosian heritage and language. Many Mythosians have different cultures and religions. They have lightning fast reflexes, high amounts of magical power, and the ability to communicate with unsentient animals. They wield Illunos Crystals as weapons, sources of magic, and for religious ceremonies. They are combat experts, strategic hunters, and have animal instinct. They also have their own transportation by taming mythological unsentient creatures. They ride on unicorns for their speed and their magical skills, they fly on pegasi for their powerful flight, and they swim on hippocampi for their vast speed and, like some humans in Southeast Asia that are adaptable in water, Mythosians can hold their breath underwater while riding a hippocampus for over 15 minutes. Mythosians believe that magic is a natural entity, and is a gift bestowed from the universe by deities. They believe that their lives are entitled with nature. Mythosians are also masters of math and science, thinking of ancient mathematicians and scientists as all-knowing Gods.
