SpongeBob joins Sandy as her 'lab partner' in helping her discover a cure for the common cold since she found a good appreciation for his assistance since the SpongeBob episode Perfect Chemistry, but is personally a means to be with her as close as he can after their half-breakup in Little 'Annoying' Sweethearts. However, through this, a lab accident causes him to gets the Suds again (since he doesn't get colds). Though Spyro ends up getting sick as well when he catches SpongeBob's illness. Thus, Lord Shen must fill in as the temporary leader of the Lodge despite the fact that everyone thinks he cannot pull it off given his reputation. Though after several crime-fighting accidents involving misguidance with the idiots of the Lodge causing not just so many criminal getaways, but also it makes things worse as more criminals take advantage of this and use it to grow into an alliance. After this, Shen begins to switch to strictness within his ranks and ushers in strict rules to keep the Lodgers in line like he does with the wolves and gorillas. However, he bites off more than he can chew, and things don't go so well as planned. To make it worse, Baron Wu Hao is back as the leader of the criminal alliance, and he has brought with him Anima and Batula as his second-and-third-in-command. With plans for these unified villains hatching something big, can Shen get himself out of this one?
