Saltwater 'Salty' Spitoon is an Equestrian griffin from the Aquila Shores of Griffonstone. He is a former member of the Griffin Navy until he was crippled of his flight during an encounter with a sea monster and retired as a sea adventurer and marine escort for especially the Mane Six since meeting Twilight Sparkle a day before the events of Equestria Girls. Despite being as cranky as any other griffin, he has moments of patience and glory. But his cranky nature has been worse since the griffin controversy caused by Goldstone cost him his Earth Pony friend Rusty Rock, causing him to be extremely grouchy, mean, insensitive, and loud to even the Mane Six, especially when they're not around because of their ability to teleport. He has a pirate accent and the voice of Flying Dutchman.

Salty is a Seagull-Siberian tiger griffin, dark-brown and white feathers, gray pirate-like hair and beard, a dark gray crooked beak, and gray talons. He also wears a sea captain's hat, an eyepatch, and sometimes weilds a crudely made crutch for long walking distence when not on his ship.
